Campaign of the Month: August 2014
The Concord of Ashes
The Antonian Magister Secretarius; this ancilla serves the elder Nicepherus, and can often be found criss-crossing the city on his master's business.
A short, slight, balding Grecian with large brown eyes, greying brown hair and angular features. His expression is serious and earnest. He wears the robes of a well-to-do courtier, and is unarmed.
Alexander Rangabes belongs to an ancient Byzantine noble family, and practically oozes confidence, superiority and ceremonial officiousness. Indeed, a Rangabes once sat on the Imperial throne, and that fact is rarely far from Alexander’s thoughts. He was Embraced in the Year of Our Lord 1126, and was chosen by Nicepherus to replace his then recently destroyed childe Andronicus, murdered by a rogue caitiff diablerist. Alexander had been a mortal client of Andronicus’, and had shown himself to be a talented court intriguer and capable “whip” for his patron, so Nicpeherus decided that he would make an able replacement.
In the years since, Alexander has stuck close by his sire’s side, and has proven himself to be an excellent secretary. He has also connived to earn the favour of Basileus Caius, earning him the envy of many of his colleagues. Like his sire, he despises Anna Comnena and Irene Stellas, though for different reasons, having carried his misogynistic tendencies across the threshold into Undeath. He works hard to keep their faction down, and see that Nicepherus’ place at Caius’ side (and thus his own) remains secure.
A capable polo player, Alexander competed on the purple team during the course of the match in honour of the coterie. He approved of Gunther ritter’s skill, and was full of praise for the Gangrel after the victory, especially since the knight managed to unhorse Irene and break her arm in the course of the match.
